When the latest chapter in our history began a few years ago, the desire for spiritual growth was just four votes removed from topping the list of priorities. Though it should be, this isn’t always where the priority lies in congregational life. Maintaining spiritual growth as a top priority will have much to say about our congregation’s future. As branches, not the vine, starting and staying with Christ is the only way we can bear fruit (John 15:4-5).
Our present approach to Christian growth features service, study, and worship. Recent service opportunities have included leading a weekly Bible school at a local housing development and a collection of needed items for the Greater Johnstown School District. Ongoing study opportunities include Sunday school, confirmation, and adult Bible study. As to worship, we were recently nominated as the best place of worship in our community by the local paper.
